I really enjoyed the Oscar Show this year. Jon Stewart was really funny and a great host. I mainly watched because I wanted to see Marion Cotillard recieve her Oscar for the larger than life portrayal of Edith Piaf. Juno was cleverly written and the Coen brothers are also great writers. One day I hope that Laura Linney and Johnny Depp will finally win because they are doing great work. I really enjoyed the montage of showing the past Oscar winning actors and actresses. The glow on their faces was remarkable along with my new favorite actress Marion Cotillard. I thought they everyone looked great for the most part and it was a very glamourous night. I would like to see a new category of best individual stunt and best group stunt because I think the stunt people really place their lives on the line to get the perfect special effects shot and they deserve a lot of credit along with the special visual effects category, I also think there should be an award for best juvenile performance. I have seen a lot of young people recently who are great actors. Also, I do not think that comedy and musicals are respected as the dramatic films and actors. If that is true I think they should have a best comedy and best dramatic award similiar to the Golden Globes. I love the Oscars and I always look forward to watch my favorites win in all of the categories.
i think Johnny depp is the best actor he is sexy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oscars-political, bias and a insult to human intelligence. A joke and unworthy of any serious thought. Like a fixed prize fight the outcome is known way in advance by those in power to plot a outcome for their own agenda. I will no longer bore you or myself by ever considering the Oscars worthy of any judgement to decide or pick anything of value in the filming industry. The Oscars are not worthy to judge if a outhouse stinks or not. The Oscars have encouraged me forever more to exercise my finger to push the remote control to find anything else, including re runs of never ending 1960's cartoon adventures like Tom and Jerry, which have more quality and brains than this last Oscar. PS: all of you Johnny Depp, he should get a award for going to the toliet type---get a brain and life.
I can't believe all these people are saying johnny depp deserved the best actor more than daniel day-lewis. Just because you like him more doesn't mean he gave a better performance. Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood was one of the best performances I've ever seen.
The Oscars is becoming one big joke! There is no way that a one demensional actor like Eddie Murphy should have recieved a nod for his performance in Dream Girls... worst movie ever! Eddie is undoubtedly the king of comics next to Richard Pryor but in Dream Girls he was still the donkey in Shrek. He was incapable of transforming into the character. I love his comedic works but we need to be real anout what Hollywood is doing; acknowledging African Amercians who are the most marketable instead of those who are worthy? Jamie Foxx should have switched roles with Eddie seeing that he can at the very least actually sing. It may be just my opinion but Daniel Day-Lewis is a worthy Thespian; Eddie is a comic. If we stop looking at how much money the fils makes because of how well it was advertised we might be able to look at the movie for what it really was... awful, songs and all. Still, let me not forget to state what it becoming the obvious and most important factor for African-Amercians, it made a lot of money!
JOHNNY DEPP SHOULD HAVE WON BEST ACTOR AWARD. HE IS MUCH MORE VERSATILE THAN DANIEL DAY LEWIS. AND WHAT'S UP WITH JON STEWART HOSTING AGAIN!? I MUCH PREFER WHOOPI OR BILLY CRYSTAL. THE SHOW WAS DISAPPOINTING AGAIN THIS YEAR.
Why wasn't Woopie Goldberg shown in the montage of past Oscar hosts. She was great.
I am a devoted Johnny Depp fan. I think he is an excellent actor. He does roles from Nick of Time to Ninth Gate to Edward Sissorhands to Sweeny Todd. I think he is great and I am 58 years old. He deserves an oscar. Maybe Hollywood just has their own little "clicks" or maybe it is because Johnny once said that an award was not that important. He just loved doing his job!! Whatever the reason he has not won---I admire and respect him. Great job Johnny. Love to you and your beautiful family.
Johnny Depp should have won. When will they listen to the fan's they are just like Washington they never listen to the people. Maybe he needs to get out of playing the weird a little more, but nobody does it better. It really doesn't matter what they think or do, the people like Johnny Depp.
JOHNNY DEPP... He should have won! Everybody knows it. They totally dissed him at the Oscars. They hardly ever showed him, even when walking down the Red Carpet they didn't even bother to interview him. Hello... the lights are on but nobody's home! So sorry Johnny, that you had to sit through all that crap just to be dissed in the end. No doubt Daniel Day Lewis is a fine Actor, but to me, I saw "There Will Be Blood"; it's the same character he played in "Gangs of New York", just change out the wardrobe and the period of the film. No big surprise performance. Johnny, on the other hand, delivered way beyond anyone's expectations in "Sweeney Todd". He's just too cool for the Academy. I wish that stupid Writer's Strike was over when they were supposed to have the Golden Globe Awards. It would have been great to see him actually win and accept his Award. Well, at least the Golden Globes got it right. Though, knowing Johnny, from his interviews, he was probably was happy he didn't have to make the trek to Los Angeles and got to win his award in the privacy of his own home in France.
