Shocking Claims in New Cruise Biography

Tom's Lawyer Calls Book 'Sick Stuff,' Won't Comment on Legal Action

(Jan. 6) - From the infamous biographer who has chronicled the lives of Princess Diana and Monica Lewinsky, among others, comes a new book about Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise.

Andrew Morton's 'Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography' is full of allegations about Cruise's personal life, touching on his marriage to Nicole Kidman, the birth of his daughter Suri and his relationship with Penelope Cruz.

Much of the book centers on Cruise's practice of Scientology, going as far as to assert that the actor consults the religion's leader, David Miscavige, on "every aspect of planning and policy" of his career, reports the Daily Mail.

'Tom Cruise:
An Unauthorized Biography'

Andrew Morton, who has previously written about Princess Diana and Monica Lewinsky, is poised to release 'Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography' on Jan. 15. The book takes a look at the actor's belief in Scientology and the ways in which it has allegedly guided his life.

A lawyer for Cruise attacked the unauthorized biography of the star, calling it "outrageous, sick stuff," even as U.S. publisher St Martin's Press defended the book.

"His book is a rehash of tired old lies about Tom and his religion, some new grotesque lies, like the sick comparison of his child to 'Rosemary's Baby' and the nutty assertion that he's the No. 2 head of the Church of Scientology," Cruise's longtime lawyer, Bert Fields, told Reuters.

"He (Morton) has made a number of claims that are false and demonstrably so," said Fields, who added that he had read Morton's book, "Clearly the book is actionable, but I'm not commenting on anything to do with legal issues."

In a brief statement Monday, St Martin's Press spokesman Steve Troha said: "We stand by our book and our author."

Fields said Cruise has no plans to read the book, and the lawyer also slammed Morton's claims that Cruise's former wife, Australian actress Nicole Kidman, was worried she would be blackmailed or not see the couple's two adopted children if she spoke out against the Church of Scientology after their divorce.

Kidman's spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment, but Fields said Morton's claims were "absolute hogwash ... what they say about her is absolutely false."

"The man should be ashamed of himself and so should his publisher," said Fields. "He pretends to be writing a biography without ever talking to anybody who has really known Tom for the past 30 years."

It's OK to reach for a cup of coffee while Oprah is interviewing you. It is a sign of maturity and being middle aged. The coffee helps people stay awake and keep up in this world. In other words, you are getting older and can't move as fast like when you were younger. Please act your age.

Katie Katie Katie remember when you have a blooming career, remember when you had your owe ideas. All you are now is whatever Tom wants you to be. How sad for you and Suri. We don't know how much money you got for having his baby and pretending your in love but I am sure giving a chance to turn back time you might of reconsidered what you gave up. I am not saying you for one momeny regret your child but rather regret what you got yourself into. As for Tom I can just shake my head. Unfortunatly, for all your antics you will not be remember for the great work you have done in films but rather for you couch jumping and Brook bashing. Overall a shame on all fronts.

We'll see if the new age scientology holds up against the bilical word of God when we are all dead door nails. Unlike the unitarians and all the other self seekers I'll take my chances on the Biblical word of God without any doubt within my spirit.!

Tom Cruise is a CONTROL FREAK! And HE IS ALSO CRAZY! I think just about everyone know this by now. I find it very strange he never had a baby with Mimi Rogers, or Nichole Kidman too! It makes one wonder if Suri is really his child. She could be by invitro possibly?? Tom needs to come down off of his high horse. What really good movies has he been in lately? I think most people are sick of him and his whole Scientologist junk by now too! Take a break Tom and get lost for awhile!

OMG! That's not Tom's real hair. It's so obvious.

swampgoddess1 06:45:28 PM Jan 25 2008

Just finished reading the book and didn't notice anything too shocking. The author believes that Suri is definitely Tom's child, and states unequivocally that Tom is not gay and relates what a talented actor he is. It is more an expose on Scientology, and that is pretty scary. Read up on this "religion"/cult and see what you think. Make sure you read books by people who have been in Scientology and those who have been persucuted by Scientology. Don't make a judgement until you have done some research.

Nice to see so many sane people recalling the right to freedom of religion, which we do still have....uh, right?....oh yeah! we do! It's sad that people believe without question what they read and hear from the media, never checking the facts for themselves. Scientology helps many, many people all over the world and where's the harm in that?

Scientology is the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, others and all of life. The Scientology religion comprises a body of knowledge extending from certain fundamental truths. What Morton is doing is just to make a buck with his fictional account of the Church. What Morton is writing is not just a dissenting opinion. He's actually making up fictional accounts and it's all a lie. It's unfortunate some commentators on this forum can't tell truth from fiction.

seasand28; there is a difference between "opinion" and making up stories about someone and their religious beliefs. I believe the attorney and the spokesman that Tom Cruise is only a parishioner and not involved in the running of the religion. And that whole thing with Suri is blatantly liable. I really hope Morton gets sued big time. It's too bad the US publisher is more interested in money than the truth.

Tom Cruise's only "crime" is that he is the biggest movie star in the world, Has a really cute wife and kids, a wonderful family and a strong belief that he is a spirit. He basically has everything we all want. Can't we just be happy for the guy and not try to tear him up? Is personal happiness so abundant in this world that we can waste it? Those who are tearing him up must know that if they were in that position, they would be bait and, no doubt, would not come out of it smelling like a rose like Tom always does.

I love Tom Cruise. He's a breath of fresh air in this world where commercial and party lines have attemted to dictate what WE the people believe. Freedom of Religion is a Constitutional right and his religion as he says has solutions for social ills that effect YOUR lives everyday!!!
I'm not a sheep, I think that BAAAAAHHHHHD.
Free spirit and proud of it in Philadelphia.

seasand28 11:07:13 PM Jan 15 2008

I think that Tom Cruise should re-evaluate his "Missilon Statement" in a new unit of time. Times are chaging and being part of "big groups" and playing "king of the Mountain" is over. This book is the author's personal opinion of Tom Cruise and the sure sine of weekness or lying is to deny others the right to their own opinion. America was founded on the idea of having freedom of speech. A real man could stand up to others opinions and unless there was truth in them would not fase him. Per the Creed of the Church of Scientolgoy every man has a "right to his own opinion and an inailable right to couinter or utter or write upon the opinions of others. Why does it bother the church so much that others have and opinion unless they don't practice what they preach. It seems to me that the CHurch is on a one way flow - "All rights for us and non for anyone else". In my opinion the church uses their policy to hold up as an example but they don't follow it themselves. It is all about

He's a good actor. Whatever happened to freedom of religion? One of the definitions of a cult is: idolization of somebody or something: an extreme or excessive admiration for a person, philosophy of life, or activity. According to this definition, every religion is a cult. People need to lay off and stop trying to find fault with everyone instead of finding what's right. This book is bogus. This guy makes a living writing fables on the rich and famous, and people want to believe it. Aren't there more important thing things to REALLY be worried about - like our country?
