Raiders of the 'Indiana Jones' Screenings

(May 10) - Despite efforts to keep his upcoming film under wraps, Indiana Jones is finding himself confronted with a new enemy, the Internet.

Steven Spielberg is "unusually fastidious" about minimizing any advance press that might dampen the buzz surrounding his movies, notes the New York Times. In fact, Spielberg is so secretive about his work that not even his publicist, Marvin Levy, has seen 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,' which is due to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18. Levy and Spielberg have worked together for 30 years.

Nonetheless, by Thursday Ain't It Cool News had already posted three separate reviews of the film by industry insiders. Harry Steele deemed the film "Pretty. Damn. Good," but noted is was nowhere near as good as 'Raiders of the Lost.'

But Steele's colleagues were less enthusiastic. One writer, who identifies himself only as "Quint," said 'Crystal Skull' isn't "a bad movie. It’s just an unnecessary one." And ShogunMaster, whom the Times referred to as "a theater executive," called it "the Indiana movie that you were dreading."

Online movie ticket retailer Fandango reports brisk advance sales for 'Crystal Skull' and says that it's been rated the most anticipated film of the summer by the site's user. It remains to be seen if the sales and excitement continue after the reviews come back from Cannes.

I don`t trust most of the reviews, trust is hard to come by and easy to lose.

Just how can one write a review of a movie taht has yet to be seen in one completed piece?

No doubt bootlegged, digitized, and uploaded by cybernerds with no life.

Actually all of the sudios make advance copies for the press and the Academy. I'm sure this hoopla is just a successful attempt to get a bit more publicity before general release.

Love all the Indiana Jones movies, I know Ill love this one too, no matter what some idiot critic says.Harrison Ford may be alot older, but he still has what it takes to make a great exciting film. I can't wait to see it, and ill be one of the first to purchase it when it comes out on DVD, just like the others, they were ALL GREAT!! Congrads to all the cast members, Im sure they had a great time in filming the last Indiana Jones film!!

I can't believe that the industry is giving Ain't It Cool News any consideration. The site is usually dead wrong when it comes to a lot of reviews, and it's even been proven that Harry Knowles (the idiot that runs the site) has planted reviewers for specific studios. Many online people can't even stand him or his stupid little gossip hole.

So, yeah, take what these goofballs say with a grain of salt.

I don't care what idiot film critics says about Indiana Jones movies. As far as I'm concerned it's a cult classic with an undeniable following and gives Americans something to enjoy with all the other bad things we get to hear about in the news.
Some idiot film critics just want a piece of the media hype pie. Everyone knows that original films are hard to follow. Keeping the imagination and enjoyment is what it's all about. I hope there is more Indiana Jones movies in the makings.....

Who ever wrote the script, I hope he did mini flashbacks to get audiences up to speed. It's a great character. Ford made the story, movie, fun to watch without the overkill on special effects."

Indiana Jones is pure Americana culture. Anyone who isn't excited about this film must be a communist. I agree part 2 was g@y but part 3 was a thrilling ride. Even if this new one isn't great it will still be awesome to be watching Indy back doing what he does. Although I think Harrison Ford should have chosen a Han Solo spinoff adventure. Supposedly he had the choice. A Han Solo adventure in the star wars universe would be incredible.

"Until them, the plot of 'Crystal Skull' had been a closely guarded secret own comment here"

Hey AOL copywriters, it's "Until THEN"

Geez they actually pay people to write this stuff.

I am looking forward to seeing the movie. With the "OIL BANDILDOS" screwing the American people we all need something to restored our respect and faith for our country. Harrison Ford is a real Hero!
