(April 11) - Natalie Portman sure likes to wear bodices.

After losing her head in "The Other Boleyn Girl," Portman has signed on to star as romance icon Catherine Earnshaw in the latest big-screen adaptation of Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

An English literature classic, "Heights" tells of the passionate, all-consuming and ultimately tragic love between Catherine and a man simply known as Heathcliff.

Olivia Hetreed ("Girl With a Pearl Earring") wrote the script for this version, and the film has yet to attach a director or a male lead.

The novel has been brought to both the small screen and the big screen many times over the years, with the 1939 version, starring Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon, earning eight Oscar nominations. However, the most recent "Heights" adaptation, featuring the formidable duo of Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche as the star-crossed lovers, grossed a mere $624,643 in 1989.

Stupid to even ATTEMPT to remake the original with Merle Oberon. Ha!!!!!!!!

Personally, I believe Charity Wakefield (the English actress who played the younger sister in the Masterpiece Theater version of "Sense and Sensibility") would be a PERFECT Catherine...and for Heathcliff, I could see Jonathan Rhys Meyers who is, I believe, is also English. He's now playing King Henry VIII on Showtime's The Tudors. I also think Portman is the wrong person to play Catherine. Although, I must tell you that years ago, many people were very angry to have an ENGLISH woman, namely Vivien Leigh, play Scarlett O'Hara, an American southern belle...and look how wonderful she turned out to be in the part. I couldn't imagine anyone else playing her. On another note, I also heard that Cher purchased the rights to remake "The Enchanted Cottage" -- seems like Hollywood is going back to the gold standards because they can't get anyone to go watch their horrible movies anymore. The Enchanted Cottage is one of the best old movies ever made, in my opinion. If you've never seen it..

Natalie was horrible as Anne, so she had better take more acting lessons. A lot depends on who they cast as Heathcliff. These remakes can't hold a candle to the original with Merle Oberon and Laurence Olivier.

Where do they get these writers???????

HELLO!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Duh, I would hope she likes to wear BODICES. Considering that is the what the top part of a dress is called. Corset is a closefitting UNDERGARMENT worn, chiefly by women, to give support to or shape the body. (Thank you, Webster's Dictionary!!)

I won't assume this "writer" meant CORSET, but that would make more sense than "bodice".

If you are going to write about it, make sure you know what you are talking about. Open a dictionary or look it up on Dictionary.com.

Don't people check this stuff???? Research, editors??????

How sad.

Why couldn't they cast a British actress? Wuthering Heights is a completely British work. Ugh, I really dislike this casting. Portman simply isn't Catherine. I don't think she could ever pull off being insane.
Thank goodness Catherine is dead for half of the novel.

Natalie was horrible as Anne, so maybe..just maybe she can be a great Catherine, considering the charachter is known for her whinning.
