Is Suri's Bottle Filled With Scientology?

(May 9) -- Recent pictures of 2-year-old Suri Cruise still using a bottle made some question Tom and Katie's parenting skills. But is Scientology to blame?

According to a baffling report from Defamer, L. Ron Hubbard ordered Scientologist moms to feed their children a mixture of barley water, homogenized milk, and lots of honey -- a recipe he obtained during time travel to ancient Rome. One issue, though, is that the kiddie cocktail can be toxic. Get the Full Scoop at Defamer

Scientology, Stars
And Controversy

1 of 16

L. Ron Hubbard may be the reason that Suri Cruise is still drinking from a bottle at the age of 2, Defamer suggests, reporting that the Scientology founder urged his followers to use his own special formula recipe that he obtained during time travel. Unfortunately, it contains honey, which can be toxic to young children.

In what is purported to be testimonials by former Scientologists who have had experience with "Hubbard's baby formula," some say it caused the teeth of the children to rot due to high sugar content. Honey, which is to blame for the high sugar content, can be toxic to infants, as it contains a bacteria that can cause botulism. Others say it made the babies "thin and colicky," while one even claims children "screamed themselves to death."

And Suri isn't the only Scientolo-tot with a penchant for bottles. On a recent appearance on 'Rachael Ray,' actress Leah Remini talked about how her 3-year-old daughter Sophia still drinks upwards of "six or more bottles a night. Remini goes on to say that she "could see her drinking a bottle 'til she's 16." Watch a Clip Here

Over the past few years, Cruise's relationship with the controversial religion has been front and center. While promoting 'War of the Worlds,' the actor got into a heated debate with 'Today' host Matt Lauer on the ethics and practices of psychiatry. Cruise famously told Lauer that he was being "glib," and proclaimed that only he knew the truth behind the science.

In January, Gawker posted a video of Cruise giving a candid discussion about Scientology, calling them "the authorities" and saying it is a "privilege" to become one. The clip, which Gawker labeled an "indoctrine video," was never meant to be seen by the public, which prompted a lawsuit from the Church of Scientology.

Tom Cruise is blinded with his so called "faith". He trusts nobady but himself that is one of the tenets of Scientology. L. Ron Hubbard once said, "If you want to be rich, creat your own religion!" This is what Scintology is all about! There is no "truth" but MONEY! We should all stop and watch Tom Cruise's movies! Or else pretty soon he is going to be "God" himself!!

Has anyone figured out yet that L. Ron Hubbard was out of his mind? Anyone is crazy for following his words. He was a science fiction writer, nothing more, with delusions of grandeur

I listened to Mr. Cruz speak about Scientology, my repsonce is "what was he trying to say?". He keeps saying that we are all looking to "them" to fix our problems and I think he should be looking for some answers for himself. He says "You're either in or out", I am happy to be out. There is something that scares me with all his forced laughter and fumbling for words. The bottle issue is minor in this family. I hope people do not think that this is how all churchs are. Scientologist do not believe in a higher power than themselves from what I understand.

Mothers in previous generations put honey bottles to soothe the tummy. People will blindly give their babies canned and powdered formulas without even reading the contents. They feed their kids all sorts of things with preservatives and other harmful chemicals, but they get excited about this couple giving their child milk and honey? It amazes me.

If kids walking around with a bottle is due to Scientology, then I think the whole world must be filled with Scientologist, especially at WalMart. I know it is a WalMart conspiracy. Bawahaaaaaaaaaaaaa What about those kids with pacificiers in their mouth who are wayyyyyyyyy beyond the age on needing a pacifier. For goodness sake, they are in kindergarden. What about Pull Ups? If they are big enough to put on their own diapers, they are big enough to be potty trained. What conspiracy is that..Advertisers? People it is no one's business when a parent takes their child off the bottle. This shouldn't even be newsworthy.

no one should give a baby honey at all. katie needs to stick with old school methods that she was raised with. what tom doesn't know won't hurt anyone.. BABY HEALTH IS AT POSSIBLE RISK. KATIE IS A GOOD MOM IF IT IS WORKING FOR SURI SHE WILL STOP IT.

wierd people people

I think people need to really get a life and care about something important rather that when Suri (or anyones kid ) is off the bottle or what is in it, being on a bottle when you are two is not gonna hurt anyone, and honey is fine after age one. God people really need to get a life

jaqbnimble13 01:23:07 PM May 12 2008

Not only is she getting a little too old for a bottle (she should drink milk out of a sippy cup for muscular development), but she just became old enought to have honey. Children under 2 years old are not supposed to have honey at all! Not only is it bad for their teeth, it can cause botulism! If they really use the formula that some Sci-Fi writer told them to use, then they are lucky that she hasn't been sick.

Do people not realize there is a WAR going on???!!! Who cares that a 2 year old still has a bottle. Barley Milk and Honey???? Hello they make baby barley cereal and sell it in the local super market and they also sell milk and honey there too. I have given my 3 year old oatmeal cereal with a little milk and honey for breakfast and I'm Catholic! I think its just a witch hunt on the Cruise family. Focus on real news people are dying because of this stupid war!!!

It's none of the media or societies or the DOCTOR"S business at what age a child should give up the bottle. It is a decision to be made only by the parents and quite frankly the child. My grandon turned 3 a few months ago and still takes a bottle at bedtime. It is a comfort issue, just like a toddler's favorite blanket or sleep toy. There will always come a time when the child will feel COMFORTABLE ENOUGH to give certain things up on their own. Society MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS. If you find it offensive to look at, then STOP LOOKING AT WHAT'S NOT YOUR BUSINESS ANYWAY!!!
