Police Sort Out Clues Into Ledger's Death
A Rising Star's Tragic End
Heath Ledger's friend Vincent Fantauzzo has submitted a portrait of the actor the two conceived together for Australia's prestigious Archibald Prize. Of Ledger's death, Fantauzzo said, "I just didn't believe it. When you paint someone, you meditate over them. I was painting Heath every day for 10 hours a day."

"It's a pretty sad time. We're finding it difficult to cope by ourselves, let alone cope with everybody around the world," said the actor's father, Kim Ledger. "Having said that, we do really appreciate the outpouring and the emotional support from all over the globe."

Model Gemma Ward, above, who was rumored to have dated Ledger briefly in late 2007 or early 2008, was among the celebrities on hand for Ledger's memorial. Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett, who co-starred with Ledger in the Bob Dylan biopic 'I'm Not There,' eulogized the late actor.

Mourners arriving for the wake at the Indiana Tea House in Perth, Australia, were met by a floral tribute to Ledger, with a note that read, "To the Ledger Family, Deepest sympathies for the loss of your beloved son. Our thoughts are with you always."

Ledger's family and friends watched the sunset on Cottesloe Beach. "The sun goes down on our love," said two mourners. "But it will never go down on Heathy."

A group of mourners in various stages of dress ran into the water, including Ledger's sister, Kate, who got a hug from a friend. Ledger's father watched from the balcony of the tea house and shouted, "Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!" while giving the spectacle two thumbs up.

Williams was walked into the ocean by a friend, too, and emerged from the water smiling. Ledger's family and friends watched the sunset on Cottesloe Beach. "It's exactly what Heath would have wanted," one mourner told PEOPLE magazine.

The New York City medical examiner's office has ruled that Heath Ledger's death was caused by "acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine." Five other medications were found in the actor's apartment by the NYPD.

it's amazing....Such a great actor has his life taken away. In a way,to me his death seems unreal and that he's still alve and it was all fake but these articles just bring in the fact that he IS dead. He was a great actor and I feel bad for his daughter. R.I.P Heath Ledger,you did great in your acting career,everyone is proud of you.;)

I never was a fan of his until I saw the promo for The Dark Knight. I was floored by that three minute trailer. I have seen THE DARK KNIGHT twice now and I am rooting for Heath to win a posthumous Oscar for Best Actor at the Academy Awards next year. This would be the fitting end to the story of a young man who hailed from Perth and had stars in his eyes. He played Mel Gibson's son. Played opposite Peter Boyle. Made the girls scream. played a gay cowboy,a junkie,and a Bob Dylan wannabe. Before giving us a milestone performance in a life that was cut too short. RIP Heath and thank you for the memories. Your legacy will live on in pictures and at the local multiplex.

Heath Ledger was awesome as the joker in The Dark Knight!!! I was always a fan especially after seeing him in the movie candy! He was a wonderful actor, seemed so sweet and caring in real life with his twinkling eyes and beautiful smile and deep sexy voice! He will be missed so much!! I never met Mr. Ledger, but I wish I had as maybe we could have been friends. I'd like to know more of his life story,about his family and childhood. I'd like to see old family movies that narrate simply and familiarly. If there was someway I could tell Mr. Ledger that is life had value, I would, even though I know none of the details of his personal strife. If he had needed someone to talk with or lean on, I would have been here for him.-Sara

Heath was a super-major alcoholic and drug addict. The entertainment industry has known this for several years. It's silly for others to act like "Oh my god..."

Something is strange. How did the massage therapist know there was a light bulb that needed to be changed in the first place? Did she radomly say "hey, I have a hunch a light bulb needs to be changed in Heath Ledger's bedroom, I'm a massage therapist but don't think Heath needs a massage, but def needs a new light bulb. Lemme go over there and change it."

This was sad. Its hard to believe that an actor with talent could die at such a young age. But it does happen just look at Anna Nicole Smith.

Although its been almost three weeks, I am still in shock that he really left us, he will be sorely missed, he looked like a great father to Matilda, a gentle son, according to what Mr Kim Ledger says and an awesome actor. Words escape me at the moment.
