(June 15) - Just two months past her 18th birthday, the young women known to millions of 'Harry Potter' fans as "Hermione Granger" is allegedly poised to become a spokeswoman for one of the most beloved fashion houses in the world.

Chanel has signed Emma Watson to a two-year, $5.8 million contract to promote their perfume Coco Mademoiselle, reports the Daily Mail.

The London paper goes on to say that Chanel has been dressing Watson for public appearances over the past few months to see if she was right for their brand.

"'Once it became clear she is growing into a beautiful young woman and wears the Chanel brand so elegantly, they had to sign her up. Chanel realizes it is important to target a young audience," a source told the paper.

Watson would replace Keira Knightley, 23, who has been with Chanel since April 2006.

Coco Mademoiselle is geared toward teens and young women. Emma Watson is perfect for this line.

did ppl ever come to think tho that the pics that she's slouching in well they could've just have been bad photos. i mean i dunno every1 of us on here has probably taken a bad photo more then a couple times. and no1 on here has the right to be so critical of another person. bad posture...oh whoopie do...she still has the making of becoming a great spokesperson. so just give her a chance...if she's good enough for chanel...then she is good enough for the rest of us. besides a fresh face is always well appreciated. well sorrry for making this post so long and i do hope that you all have a lovely day. best wishes to u chanel. bye

I meant to say, Read Coco biography. It's fascinating.
(Sorry, typed too fast.)

I wonder who the PR people are? I've always read that European men thought women didn't become 'interesting' until after 40. Is American advertising starting to influence Europe too much???

A point of interest: After Coco sold her Chanel No.5 rights to patent attorneys, they changed her formula. The new owners thought that the vast amount of rose oil she used was too expensive, hence the formula change. So what we are buying, is not the original scent. Her Coco's biography, it's fascinating.

No matter how attractive she might be she still hasn't been alive long enough to grow into having some class, which their last Chanel lady, and I do mean LADY, had. She walks, talks and dresses like a little girl. For Pete's sake, let her grow up and pick someone who's been around for at least 1/4 century. (For those of you who don't get it... at least 25 years old!!)

What do we call THESE kids? The Potter pack? Nice choice for Chanel ... beautiful girl. But she should be wearing Love's Baby Soft or something .. Chanel is more an adult fragrance. yes?

Despite all of the comments made here -some truely tasteless- she is a beautiful, young lady. The Channel, Dior, Versace and Saint Laurent brands -amogst others- sell, and make their living of beauty and youth...so...it is there they must go to make a living.

Emma Watson? I don't think so. Chanel needs someone that looks like a grown ass woman not someone who is barely out of her teens. I know these companies need to cater to a younger audience but this is ridiculous. I love Coco Mademoiselle but I bought it because Chanel is a fabulous product not because someone born in 1990 is hawking the product. Give me a break! Nicole Kidman is still exquisite. Can't top her in these ads.

Did Chanel forget about Liv Tyler?

tiggggrrl 01:32:44 PM Jun 16 2008

Oh yeah, gotta target the younger crowd, since, you know, Keira is just too "old" at 23. After all, them 12 year old really are all about the Chanel luxery brand, aren't they...

Looks like the House oh Chanel ps trying to capture the next generation as customers. Smart move on thier part.anything that will replace the "Hoe Look" tthat's popular with the girls now is a winner with me. Kudos to Chanel.

shame on them, women are more beautiful after 30.

Miley Cyrus is a Britney in the making...they wouldn't want her.

Sockchucker69 01:15:35 PM Jun 16 2008

My mother used Chanel #5 all of her life, she also sprayed some on the dog! Watson is too young to be a spokesperson for anything, never mind Chanel.

Sharon Stone should be spokesperson for Foot-in-Mouth couture. Guess no one was available who resembles Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly. Maybe they should try finding a sophisticated but unthin model.
