Spare me

"Here is another bomb of a movie. You would think by now that the quality of the picture as well as the plot would be better put together. How long has Tyler been practicing to get it right. Extremely disappointed."

A Black Perspective

"The point about Tyler Perry's movies is that they are a sermon about the major problems within the African American community. He spends a lot of time trying to repair our male - female relationships. He wants us to trust god, forgive each other's mistakes in the past, and he wants women not to give up on their search for a good man. He also believes that there is a basic goodness and humanity within the black community. Another strong point of his movies is is that white folks are not blamed for the problems of his characters. These people solve their own problems. When a white guy came to the door near the end of the movie, I could not help thinking that he was going to take advantage of the family, but he turned out to be a good guy. It is easy to simplify his movies, but these are crucial issues within our community."

Just wrong

"I have seen a few of Tyler's movies, and I loved a couple of them, but Meet the Browns was the worst movie I have ever seen. It just seemed so thrown together, and the attempt at comedy was so over the top. It was just embarrassing. As a single mother, I could relate to Angela's character because it is truly a struggle, and I appreciate seeing that struggle played out on screen, but everything else was just garbage."

This Is Your Grannnnndaddddddyyyy!

"I dont know about anyone else but when i go see a tyler perry movie im not expecting some complex grand scheming plot. I expect funny and this movie is just that, to a degree. There were some funny points to the movie, however it dragged at some points, but the ending, the credits were hilarious! Of course there was a theme of being able to overcome the impossible, love will previal, and God and family will help you through it(sound familiar). We've come to expect this from Mr. Perry, because this is what he's good at and this is what he delivers. Madea's small role in the movie was enough to have you laughing but wanting to see more of her, but i wouldnt be surprised if the next tyler perry movie was what happened after they arrested her that night. The latin chick was hella funny and every female knows they have an over the top friend just like her, Angela's son will have you in tears with his "im not going to leave you too" speech, Mr. Brown (the bald one) made the movie! overall i liked it and i can't wait for the DVD to come out so i can watch the outtakes again!P.S. Did anybody else notice troy, the policeman from why did i get married? and was it just me but did you find yourself referring to Angela Bassett as Ana Mae? ;P"

A Great Tyler Perry "Fun" Movie

"After reading many critics the day before going to see the movie "Meet the Browns", I decided to judge for myself. This was a delightful, typical Tyler Perry movie. I went for a good laugh and that's just what I got! I've always loved Angela Bassett's acting and it was good to see her playing the role of the downhome everyday woman. Yes, we all know that she is a great sophisticated actress, but please, she "let her hair down" and played her role well. For the critics who complained about this movie, go back to reading the dreadful news of Iraq, politics, murders, global warming, gas prices, etc."

I was disappointed

"I love Tylers earlier films they are great. But this one sucks. The comedy is slap stick and plan stupid. All this whinning about not having money. She can't find a job at Buger King? Please give us a break. The acting looks all fake. Angela through out the movie has this big attitude and then the next she is crying. Too much whinning doesn't make it real, somehow she just doesn't get me on her side. Then she gets a a brand new house all furnished please give me a real life break. Sorry Tyler start again."

Great Family Movie

"In this day and age of unrealism and effects, T.P. has once again made a film I can take my whole family to! I was glad to see him bring in some much loved characters that had made so much laughter happen in his plays. I like the way he explores real subject matter. I like the way he includes spiritualism in each endeavor! Hollywood has made some real bombs lately but you can't go wrong with a good family film from this awesome stroyteller. Thanks Tyler!"

Calm down People

"Let me start by saying, I was never a fan of Tyler Perry, I thought his humor and plays were coonery and foolery at its best, and never wanted to waste my time, money, energy, on his work. But things changed when he came to the big screen. I have liked all his films, including this one. I guess because i do not know the background from the plays, that I come in each time with a fresh perspective. Meet the Browns was funny and warm. Yes it was predictable, tried too hard to tug on the heart strings of the viewers, but overall it was enjoyable. People put too much pressure on him, looking for something thats not there. If you are looking for great plots, cgi effects, go see an Oscar nominated film, if you want to laugh with your family, check out Tyler Perry, he can't be too bad, "Meet the Browns" grossed $20 million dollars. Make that money. I would caution Tyler to not let the media influence his work, critics are always going to find fault, just speak from the heart."

worst ever.....

"Come on Mr. Perry. This movie was like the worst movie I have ever seen. You did not think it through. It had a good story line but no substance in playing it out. If it was not for Angela, I think there would have been a line outside after the movie went off demanding a refund. I have seen ALL of your plays and ALL of your movies. I make it a point to get to opening day if possible so we can show America how awesome you are...(YOU ARE AWESOME) but this meet the browns was not a well thought through production. Know that I love you and I pray that you do not rush and write well presentedable material in the future. Thank you for being here for us. But this one did you nor us any justice.Rev. Dr. T"

we want madea

"Tyler Perry is way to smart to have people watching his movie and seeing the microphone, are you kidding me, did no one preview this movie before release? Besides the several technical errors I can't believe Madea had such a small roll, I love her and couldn't understand the reason for her scene, why wasn't she at the funeral?"

Nice Movie

"I must say that I enjoyed the movie. Yes, it was very funny in deed but the message of the movie was much deeper than a few laughs. It is a struggle out here as a single mom and the message is very inspiring. For those that haven't seen it and are trying to decide whether to go see it or not, I say GO!"

Pretty Good

"I really enjoyed this movie. Some of the humor was a little too over the top for me but the story was very inspirational. It wasn't the best movie that Tyler Perry has ever made but it was pretty good. His movies always promote faith and family values which I think is awesome. Also, I laughed out loud several times. Overall, I think it's worth the time and the money to go see it."

Out-takes

"David Mann is KRAZY!!!! Really coo coo for coco puffs. I enjoyed the movie. But the out-takes were the best part I wish they would have kept more of the funeral scenes, very funny."

I expected so much more

"I do love Tylers Perrys work, but this movie was not a good one. I don't want to put him down as a writer/producer because he has really produced great plays and movies in the past. However, I think this was his worst work yet. I think I expected so much more. I have followed his work over the years, and it usually gets better everytime. Even though it wasn't a good movie I wouldn't just write him off. I think we all just want to see something different from him. I think we are tired of the whole mad black women, and loser black man story."

Moments of Entertainment

"I was expecting more and it seemed to be a vehicle for cameos for Tyler;s characters that we know and love. I would have liked to have seen more about the Brown family and less about the Angela B's character's love life or lack thereof. There were a couple of funny scenes but the movie was very disjointed.and a little disappointing It could have been so much better"

The worst movie I have ever seen

"Tyler I love you and I have loved your movies and I have tried to support you in all your endeavors. However, this was the worst movie I think that I ever seen from you or anyone. The audience even made the experience worst because I believe each person thought this was made movie strictly for their viewing. Due to such a bad experience I will not see another one of your movies if I can help! Plus not all black women are in bad situations. Not all black women are baby mommas, struggling to find a man, or are angry because they can't seem to find a good man. At some point I hope your talent will grow, and I am sorry that so many of the black women you've either met or experienced are in these crazy situations. Some of us are just well educated, successful, and very happy women. And guess what many of us have never had to go through so much drama to find these places in our lives."

Waste of Money and Time (NO STAR)

"Let me start by saying genuinely I like Tyler Perry and what he started doing for the genre of Black Themed movies. However, at some point in time you have to show range as a director and producer, Spike Lee has done it (from School Daze to Inside Man). But Tyler has gone backwards on Meet the Browns. I'm live in Atlanta and have seen the play "Meet the Browns" and those actors and theme, DON'T TRANSLATE AT ALL ON THE SCREEN. Same deal for the actors (I love them spiritually and their heart) on the HOUSE of PAYNE. These just happen to be people he's comfortable with on a folksy level, however they showed no chemistry or timing on TV or the SCREEN. In the movie, Angela Bassett's character life is a complete mess (as usual), but she doesn't show any interest whatsoever in visiting her family in rural Georgia. Then all of a sudden the scene shows her and her 3 children (of course by different daddies) getting off a bus in Georgia. The scenes moved throughout the Movie with no real purpose of direction. The cast did not seem to have synergy amongst each other. Too many stereotypical "black-folk-talk-one-liners" to force a laugh. Sorry peeps who this may offend but many "well to do Black Folks" have walked out of the movie by half way. There's a forced attempt to introduce Madea's character as part of some sensational car chase that was just a blatant attempt to inject more off-color-gangsta-chitlin-senile-crazyold-hag JOKEs.And there was not one redeeming character of a Black Man to be found throughout the WHOLE movie. SAD SAD SAD."

The Worse Movie of the Year

"Angela Bassett portrays a single mom, and she played this role well. However, the plot is not even funny; it's ridiculous and was a waste of almost two hours of my time. This movie gets less than one star from me."

I DONE SEENT IT!!!

"I went to see Meet the Brown's on opening day, and it is just RIDICULOUS!! Leroy Brown is a fool! I enjoyed it immensely. It resonated with me, because I am a single Mom, and although my girls are grown up with children of their own I could really relate with the message of the movie. I have been in Brenda's shoes and they are some tight shoes to wear, but I made it through by the GRACE of GOD! To all the single mom's out there, it may seem like things are never gonna change, but I can only tell you to hang on in there and with the help of God it will get better."
