'Shrek the Third': Meet the Characters

Shrek

The smelly green ogre with a fragrant heart of gold is just getting used to married life when Fiona gets preggers and King Harold falls ill. Lest Shrek (Mike Myers) be tasked with ruling a kingdom, he sets out on a quest -- with Donkey and Puss in Boots in tow -- to find the next heir to the throne of Far Far Away.

More About 'Shrek'

Fiona

Shrek's leading lady is smart, tough and can kick the snot out of a band of baddies without breaking a sweat. Good thing, too, since Fiona (Cameron Diaz) and her band of butt-kicking princesses must defend the kingdom from a coup attempt by the jilted Prince Charming.

Donkey

Shrek's best friend -- and biggest annoyance -- is now proud papa to a brood of dronkeys (donkey-dragon mixes). Although he wants to spend time with his family, Donkey (Eddie Murphy) would never let Shrek go on a quest alone. He may not be a noble steed, but when it comes to friendship, Donkey is a stallion.

Puss in Boots

Shrek’s other loyal sidekick, Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) has the strength, bravery and romanticism of Zorro -- but in the body of a sweet little kitty-cat. Ever the Don Juan (see photo for proof), he often gives Shrek the bachelor’s point of view.

Artie

Fiona’s cousin and the next heir to the throne, Arthur Pendragon (Justin Timberlake) is the object of Shrek's quest. Unfortunately, Artie is not the fearless leader Shrek had hoped to find. He's a scrawny high-school student who uses his sarcastic wit and creativity to avoid all responsibility. Darned medieval teenagers!

Snow White

Voted "Fairest in the Land" three times running, Snow White (Amy Poehler) is the prissiest of the princesses that band with Fiona to defend Far Far Away from Charming. Watch out for her sarcastic edge and the plethora of forest-creature groupies that often accompany her.

Rapunzel

Voiced by Maya Rudolph, this beautiful member of Fiona's coterie isn't afraid to let her hair down, literally and metaphorically. She may use her biting wit to undermine the other princesses' confidence -- but when it comes to defending Far Far Away she knows how to stand by her gal pals.

Sleeping Beauty

Sleeping Beauty (Cheri Oteri) suffers from narcolepsy, an unfortunate condition that leaves her feeling lost in conversation and a little bit out of the loop with the other princesses. But, hey, can't blame a girl for appreciating a good nap.

Cinderella

Obsessive-compulsive and slightly skittish, Cinderella (Amy Sedaris) is the most eccentric member of Fiona's royal girl gang. She's preoccupied with cleanliness and feels out of her element if anything is less than perfect.

Dragon

She may be 400 feet long, breathe fire and chew up bad guys for breakfast -- but Dragon is all woman. Since marrying the love of her life, aka Donkey, she's popped out five adorable dronkeys.

Dronkeys

Donkey and Dragon got it on, and have five achingly cute donkey-dragon half-breeds -- two girls (Cocoa and Debbie) and three boys (Bananas, Peanut, and Parfait) -- to prove it. Combining the stellar DNA of their parents, the dronkeys can breathe fire and fly like their momma and whine all day long like their dad.

Merlin

Once the magic teacher at Artie's high school, Merlin (Eric Idle) is now an eccentric recluse who has retired to the tranquility of nature to discover his divine purpose. But don't count him out; he's still got a few tricks up his crotchety old sleeve.

Lancelot

The nerd-pounding, cheerleader-dating Lancelot (John Krasinski) is captain of the jousting team and the quintessential big man on campus. He takes every opportunity to assert his superiority over his classmates -- including Artie, whom Lancelot fondly refers to as "The Mayor of Loser-ville." How sweet.

Prince Charming

Prince Charming (Rupert Everett), aka momma's boy extraordinaire, still hasn't gotten over losing Fiona -- and the kingdom -- to Shrek. Eternally obsessed with power, fame and his own reflection, Charming enlists the help of a rabble group of fairy-tale villains in an attempt to seize control of Far Far Away.

The Evil Queen

This vain fairy-tale villain with an ice-cold heart used to be the "fairest of them all" -- that is until Snow White came along. So, yeah, she's more bit bitter than a poison apple.

Captain Hook

The sharp-handed Captain of the fairy-tale villains (voiced by Ian McShane) isn't quite the badass his prosthetic limb would suggest: He sings light a nightingale, has a hard time controlling his pirates and often confuses small children with his nemesis, Peter Pan.

Rumplestiltskin

After losing a certain wager to Rosebud and thus forfeiting the right to marry her smokin' hot daughter, this fairy-tale villain has pretty much resigned himself to a life of depression. Awww -- poor what's-his-name.

King Harold

Having finally accepted an ogre as a son-in-law, the frog king (John Cleese) of Far Far Away has more problems on his lilypad: He's fallen deathly ill and needs to name a successor. King Shrek, anyone?

Queen Lillian

With her amphibious husband on his deathbed and her kingdom threatened, Lillian (Julie Andrews) joins her daughter Fiona in the battle to save Far Far Away -- and proves she's one mom with a whole lot of moxy.

Mabel

Now that Ugly Stepsister Doris (Larry King) is attending to Fiona at the castle, it's up to this Other Ugly Stepsister (Regis Philbin) to dole out libations -- and tough love -- at the Poison Apple Bar.

Gingerbread Man

After playing a huge role in saving the day in 'Shrek 2,' Gingy is no longer the type to run, run, run away from trouble just as fast as he can. There's more sugary sweet glory in store for this tough cookie in 'Shrek the Third.'

Pinochhio

This wooden puppet with a penchant for stretching the truth has always longed to be a real boy -- no lie -- and he was for about two seconds in 'Shrek 2.' He's back and sporting wood (his long nose) for the cause of good in 'Shrek the Third.'

Wolf

He may dress like your granny, but Wolf knows how to have a good time with his big bad self. Look for him to throw a raging tea par-tay -- and perhaps bury the hatchet with the Three Little Pigs -- this time around.

Three Little Pigs

These three amigos aren't too adept at building abodes, so they prefer blowing other people's houses down. Screw straw, wood and brick. These little piggies love dynamite.
