painful
"i expected it to be hilarious compared to will's others movies, but this was painful to sit through. it didnt help that it was in a giant theater with 5 other people in it,on a friday night."
Bad movie

disappointment
"I agree that Woody H. was more professional in a subplot. He took his work seriously. It does not compare to slapshot. That was funny and sort of uplifting. Semi Pro was a sleasy, tragicomedy. It could have been uplifting and funny without the foul language which was over the top. What a waste of talent on such a lousy script. It was more about the antics of Will Farrell than a movie with a plot, even a comedy has some plot to it. Will should be embarassed, Woody should distance himself from the film and he did by making an academy award winner. Waste of time and money"

Funny and not for kids...
"Dont go in expecting an Academy Award movie... its classic Will Farrel Humor, with some dirty language... adds a new aspect to him. I loved it, laughed almost the whole movie. I will be buying this DVD for sure!"
Very Disappointed !!!
"I am a big Will Ferrell fan as well as a big ABA fan, so I was doubley disappointed in this lame attempt. The only thing I laughed at were the bizzare promotions Ferrell had to try to draw paying customers. I almost fell asleep a couple of times in the middle of the film. I wish I had slept through the whole thing."
Another Turkey
"Really, stop wasting your money on the horrible movies that Hollywood is making. These producers, actors, directors, and writers are making millions on our backs, and they are putting out more and more crap like this movie. I cannot believe that I actually watched this turkey for 50 minutes before demanding my money back. Horrid, and a waste. And why shouldn't I have gotten my money back?? eight dollars down the drain
"This movie could have been so much more. The funniest part was the relationship between Will Ferrell and the referee, who is a moonlighting priest.I viewed this movie with only two other patrons in the audience. Now I know why there were more people hanging out at the video games."
Awful Do Not Waste Your Money
"I'm a big Will Ferrell fan, love sports movies but ths movie STINKS. I kept waiting and waiting for a funny moment but nada, zilch, nothing. Ferrell is always amusing but the situations he is put in in this movie are more stupid or annoying than anything else. It is really a strange movie as Ferrell is the lead yet doesn't really do much. I think part of the problem with this and some of his recent efforts is that he doesn't have anyone great to play off of - Anchorman he was in a great ensemble of actors, Elf he had James Caan, - most importantly in those movies he had some sort of romance or something that was fun to watch. Here for whatever reason Woody Harrelson get ths dame but you don't care at all about the relationship it adds nothing. Wait to go see Stepbrother with Ferrell and John C. Reilly - the preview played before Semi-Pro and it looked really really funny."
What a turkey, I walked out...
"I was actually leaving another movie from one of the theaters at the Cinema-Plex and I walked into another theater to catch the beginning of Semi-Pro. I watched it for 20 minutes and walked out exteremly happy that I didn't spend a dime on this turkey. I suggest that if Hollywood is going to put out such garbage then we need to sample the movies before we pay for them. I am glad I walked in on this one without paying, because it was just a horrid movie, and not worth one red cent, and certainly not worth my time, which is why I walked out."

A Waste of Talent
"The latest Will Ferrell epic, Semi-Pro, is living proof that someone needs to dump the current writers of Hollywood comedies and get a new batch. The movie, if it can be called that, was the biggest waste of time I have had in a theater. The language reminded me of my first ten minutes of boot camp, or better yet, the first time five neighborhood kids including myself tried to win a cusing contest at 10 years of age.I have enjoyed Ferrell film in the past, any number of them, but this effort was awful and I will shy away form the next effort. It was not funny, and at several points int he film I started to walk out and demand my money back, until I recalled I had gotten a free pass to this mess.Do yourself a favor. If you are going to pay to watch this bomb, wait until it comes out on DVD. It is worth neither your time, gas money or even the cost of a bag of popcorn if you can get in free like I did. Above all, don't take the kids even if they are above 17. A brain is a terrrible thing to waste and they can do better things in their spare time."
Worst Will Ferrell Move Ever
"I love all of Will Ferrell's movie but this one was the WORST! The plot was so slow - way too many cus words that were unnecessary. It would have been funnier if they used funnier 70's slang. I slept through part of it. I think Will Ferrell should be embarrased to release such a dull movie. I wish I could have asked for my money back. That was 2 hours of my life that I can't get back!!! Sorry Will, you cured me from seeing any more of your movies!"
Terrible
"I love Will and I don't think me or my girl even cracked a smile the entire film. He is losing his touch. The only funny lines were in the commercial...and even they weren't funny in context."
Rent It
"Though I don't understand some complaints about the language and bad taste, it was a R rated movie, this isn't one of Will Farrell's best. Anyone who hasn't seen it I would suggest either seeing it at a cheaper time or renting it when it comes out. It could've been alot funnier.Woody Harrelson did look surprisingly good in this movie, from the neck down. It was nice to see basketball players in the old uniforms that didn't make them look like slops like they do today."

"I like Will Ferrell and I dont expect every movie an actor is in will be a 10 but I would have been happier if this was a little better. I did get a good laugh or two I just wanted more."
Pass this one up!
"So it has it's funny moments, thanks to Will Ferrell. I did laugh. But not nearly hard enough to make me forget that I paid $9.75. And there's a scene in the middle of the movie that brings the action to a screeching halt and leaves you feeling incredibly uncomfortable. Completely unnecessary!! Skip it. Wait for the DVD and a drunken night with your friends when you have nothing better to do!"

"It was truly the worst movie ever. Will Ferrell should be ashamed of himself. A man of his talent should never have gone this low. The trailers of this movie lied to the movie audience about its potential. Yes, there were a few laughs (mainly around the bear) but the rest of it was awful. No movie needs to have this many cus words."

Absolutely Awful
"I was glad this movie was only 90 minutes long. It was terrible, beginning to end. The language was terrible and some scenes were in very poor taste. Most of Farrell's movies are the stupid/funny type comedy...this was just stupid. I wish I had my money back."
