Brad Bird and Pixar recapture the charm and winning imagination of classic Disney animation.
Read the full reviewRatatouille is as audacious as they come. It takes risks and goes places other films wouldn't dare, and it ends up putting rival imaginations in the shade.
Read the full reviewA nearly flawless piece of popular art, as well as one of the most persuasive portraits of an artist ever committed to film. It provides the kind of deep, transporting pleasure, at once simple and sophisticated, that movies at their best have always promised.
Read the full reviewThis is clearly one of the best of the year's films. Every time an animated film is successful, you have to read all over again about how animation isn't "just for children" but "for the whole family," and "even for adults going on their own." No kidding!
Read the full reviewThe characters are irresistible -- why would anyone want to resist a hero who so gallantly transcends his rattiness? -- the animation is astonishing and the film, a fantasy version of a foodie rhapsody, sustains a level of joyous invention that hasn't been seen in family entertainment since "The Incredibles."
Read the full reviewRatatouille is delicious. In this satisfying, souffle-light tale of a plucky French rodent with a passion for cooking, the master chefs at Pixar have blended all the right ingredients -- abundant verbal and visual wit, genius slapstick timing, a soupcon of Gallic sophistication -- to produce a warm and irresistible concoction that's sure to appeal to everyone's inner Julia Child.
Read the full reviewBird and his co-writers leave room for quiet moments and gentle morals, but for the most part, they send visual gags and verbal punchlines tearing past at an enjoyably demanding speed, whipping up the film's energy at every turn.
Read the full reviewObserved mostly from Remy's rat's-eye view, Gusteau's kitchen is a memorable world-in-miniature with its vivid old-fashioned stoves, bright, brassy pots and general air of frenzied industry; never did sliced red onions or simmering soup look so fresh and real.
Read the full reviewLike the best French cuisine, Ratatouille is ambitious and delightful.
Read the full reviewAll the voice work here is excellent, especially Oswalt's. He sounds like Paul Giamatti but with a greater capacity for confidence.
Read the full reviewWhat makes Ratatouille such a hilarious and heartfelt wonder is the way Bird contrives to let it sneak up on you.
Read the full reviewRatatouille is a blithe concoction, as well as a miraculously textured piece of animated design.
Read the full reviewFor parents looking to spend time in a theater with their kids or adults who want something lighter and less testosterone-oriented than the usual summer fare, Ratatouille offers a savory main course.

Had its points
"This film was an alright one to sit and watch . but heck it could have had a lot more stuff than it did worth the watch tho."
A sheer delight
"As the owner of 4 real life pet domesticated rats, I never saw it in the theaters, but have recently bought Ratatouille on video. I find it to be an utter delight and praise the animation for making some of the rats' movements rather realistic, yet still "magical", and the rest of the animation too as well. Also loved the clever plot as it was indeed delightful!"
Great
"This was a really good movie. Everyone should get this movie. I would give it 90/100."
The Best Movie Of 2007
"I know you might think that this movie is childish, (and by the way, I'm a little girl) but this movie is absolutely stunning! The main character, Remy, who is a mouse, wants to become a chef. Linguini, a garbage boy in a famous restaurant. Linguini finds Remy, and Remy agrees to help Linguini become a chef. In return, Linguini gives Remy a home. (Remy had been separated from his family earlier in the movie) The boss of the restaurant is very mean, but he then gets thrown out. The former boss talks to a VERY picky food critic, and persuades him to come to the restaurant. Everyone is nervous because they need to get a good review. So----- Oh wait, I shouldn't ruin the movie for you if you haven't seen it. If you want to know what happens, watch the movie! Does Remy find his family? What does he do if he finds his family? Will Linguini tell his secret (that a mouse is doing the cooking for him)?"
Thow this film on the garbage heap!
"Yuck! What a childish movie this was! I wasted $7 to see this lopsided garbage, and only small children of about 4 or 5 may like it at all, in my opinion."
Perfect Movie
"This movie is a perfect blend of humor and theme. When Ego, the critic, says that criticism works best "in defense of the new", and also states that "a good artist can come from anywhere", we to get the real meat of the pic. Hopefully kids watching this will not only yuck it up at the numerous gags, but also internalize the fact that anybody can "cook".. or do anything they want; and as Gusteau says, to never let where you come from limit or define you. And of course the animation is excellent, the characters are well-developed, and the humor is pristine. Yes there's a gun, and rat traps, but that's life. This movie makes Remy the greatest chef in France, and I think it stands on its own as a creative masterpiece. It's not only a good theatre pic, but will be great as a home DVD, since each viewing brings to light more nuance, as well as great entertainment."
