Critic Reviews
The slow, uneven beginning is more than compensated for by the rousing climax.
Read the full reviewLively is an odd word for something called Dead Man's Chest, but lively it is. You won't find hotter action, wilder thrills or loopier laughs this summer.
Read the full reviewIt does deliver a combustible combination of ingredients for a summer blockbuster: a cornucopia of action and dazzling effects, some raucous humor and a large dose of Depp's winning charm.
Read the full reviewDepp is the comic gel that holds the whole enterprise together. The performance is a total delight that somehow combines Bugs Bunny, Peter Pan and Charlie Chaplin.
Read the full reviewThe first of two sequels shot in immediate succession, Dead Man's Chest bears the unenviable burden of racking the pins for both movies, which leaves it with precious few opportunities to have a little fun of its own.
Read the full reviewIt batters you with novelty and works so hard to top itself that exhaustion sets in long before the second hour is over.
Read the full reviewThere is a sense of bloat and where-do-we-go-from here aimlessness to this unconscionably protracted undertaking.
Read the full reviewIntermittently fun and high-spirited, Dead Man's Chest sags under the weight of its own running time.
Read the full reviewThe effects are breathtaking, and much of the action is choreographed with energy and wit. (A chase sequence on a cliff uses visual gags that defy the laws of physics, Wile E. Coyote-style.) But all of these moments bob on the film's slick surface like so much flotsam. Without a beating heart at its center, this Chest feels empty indeed.
Read the full reviewWhat do we want in a sequel? Just a little taste of the original or a triple serving piled high? Dead Man's Chest opts for the latter. This Disney movie isn't a follow-up to the first "Pirates of the Caribbean" so much as its empty-calorie clone.
Read the full reviewA noisy and lazy stopgap movie that goes absolutely nowhere and takes 2 1/2 hours to get there.
Read the full reviewYes indeed, Pirates 2.0 is a theme ride, if by ride you mean a hellish contraption into which a ticket holder is strapped, overstimulated but unsatisfied, and unable to disengage until the operator releases the restraining harness.
Read the full reviewMore than the usual bad or even numbingly horrible movie. It's an amalgam of many of the modern cinema's worst tendencies and modern filmmaking's most unfortunate misconceptions.

Best Pirates Yet
"THIS WAS THE BEST PIRATES EVER. I LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT ONE ALREADY. THE ACTION WAS UNREAL AND YOU DID NOT WANT THE MOVIE TO END. THE MONKEY SHIVERING BECAUSE HE WAS FREEZING WAS PRICELESS. HE WAS A BIG TO THIS MOVIE. THE PARROT WAS EVEN GREAT. WORDS CANNOT DISCRIBE HOW FANTASTIC THIS PIRATES WAS AND EVERYONE SHOULD GO AND SEE IT. RATING: *****"
Great Movie!
"Best pirates action/adventure movie since Master and Commander. It's action packed fun. Way better than the first one in my opinion. THIS MOVIE ROCKS!"
Keep bringing me the Pirates!!!!!!
"I loved it!! I sat there hanging on every word. As for the length, well I had my 5 yr old on my lap the whole time, and never moved because I didn't want to miss a thing! My kid's loved it sooo much, they watch it on DVD all the time. Since the trailer for Pirates III is now on TV, all I here is mommy can we go on the first day! A family of all girls, (my poor husband) that all love the Pirates. Great acting, Johnny Depp you always amaze me, and the rest of the cast didn't miss a beat!! SOOO HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! And not a single bad word in the whole movie. Great for all audiences. One scarey, jump out of your seat part, but my daughters thought it was great. A must see, can't wait until the end of May for the 3rd. All you nay sayers, pathetic, take your heads out of your rears!! Fantabulous!!!!!"
Critics have no clue
"Critics have no clue as to what real people like to see in the movies when we go to the movies we want to be taken away from our everyday lives and transfered to somewhere where only dreams happen., if left to the critics every movie would be a chick flick, "look at the acting and never mind the whole movie" thats thier take on every movie."
Got what I looked for
"Movies are for entertainment. Did I enjoy it? Would I want to see it again? Am I still interested in the sequel? Yes, to all. NO, this is not an epic, full of itself. It is a good time, a bit of fluff, somewhat predictable, but it still achieved its goal of good entertainment. Give it a 75 out of 100, and send me the DVD."
I critic my own movies
"If I believed in what the critics say about a movie, I would never have gone to see "Ghost" in the theater. I trust my own judgement as to what is good"
Please...
"I like Johnny Depp a lot and so of course I will go to see POC IV once it is released but...this movie...this movie was really lacking. It was way too long for what was really happening (much like the Titanic movie). Some of the plot did not make sense, no one answered the question as to way the Dutchman looked like fish to began with, it just was not his best work. But still it was a better movie than "Norbit."
Pirates of fun
"This was a great movie, not one foul word in the whole thing, very entertaining show, love it, dont know why the critic's even bother is be on me. can't waite for"
