This story needs to be heard, seen and felt by everyone. It is both very serious and yet has plenty of genuinely funny scenes as well (what film was the Washington Post watching?!). Everyone I was with seemed to get the full range from awe at the artistic work to the depth of the agony of human fragility and strengths in the face of political and religious manipulations as well as the joys in life we're more likely to have experienced. The message of Family is so strong that to call it a family-film, in my opinion, should almost be a requirement. Finally, the film goes-the-distance to deeply humanize the consequences of geopolitics which are so often held at a distance in the vast majority of our experiences and having done it so well deserves the highest praise!

This is an over-blown movie made to appeal to the self serving type of personality, who will walk away from this movie feeling more intelligent than the rest of the world. My take is that although the subject is great, the medium used during this movie was self indulgent and silly. Wait and see if it comes out on network TV for free, do not waste a dime.
