Moulin Rouge Synopsis & Movie Info

Synopsis

In 1899, a young poet named Christian (Ewan McGregor) leaves his family's home and heads for the decadent Montmartre district of Paris, known for its fin-de-siecle bohemian community (personified by the famous painter Toulouse Lautrec, here played by John Leguizamo). Sex, drugs and the steamy Can Can are the orders du jour and, soon enough, Christian meets a sultry courtesan named Satin (Nicole Kidman) who changes his life irrevocably. And all of this to music!
