Fools gold is a little adventurous getaway!
"Yes, they could have done much more with the movie, but it was worth seeing on the big screen. Not every movie can live up to everyone's standards, and sometimes Hollywood doesn't want to spend $100 million on every movie it makes, just consider this one a cheaper little "filler" movie for Hollywood, Kate and Mathew until the "bigger better" one comes out! Fools gold is a nice getaway for most of us!!"
An Entertaining

"So what if the plot has as many holes as Swiss cheese. It was FUN, just plain good, dumb fun. Romancing the Stone kind of fun, but with a quicker pace. If you listened to the self absorbed professional critics above, they'd be bitching that Joan Wilder would never be taken seriously as an author. If you want to get out of the house for an afternoon of inexpensive (matinee) entertainment ~ this is a good bet. If not, you'll see when it makes onto HBO, etc.Besides which, just the scene with Alexiz Dzienda with the sword is worth the price of admission.Critics, don't take cinemagraphic life so seriously."
BORING
"Matthew McConaughey is such eye candy in this movie, but that's the best part. The movie was long winded and boring. The very end picked up a bit. I think I dosed off a couple of times. Not recommeded. If you really want to see it - wait to rent it and save your money."

Fun in the Sun
"I wish they would stop showing so much of the movie in the previews. Previews have gotten longer and longer and pretty soon we won't need to go to the movie at all. The preview for this movie is this way. Even so, my family and I enjoyed our trip when we went along on this tropical ride and had a lot of fun. Enjoyed the music and the scenery. Go to this with a happy go lucky attitude and just go with it. Some people may think it is dumb but to them I would say they need to "lighten up". This movie is fun and not meant to challenge your mind. Wear your tropical shirt to the theater and have fun. We are going back to see it again just because we feel good while watching it. If you can't afford a tropical vacation this is the next best thing."

Fantastic Movie! Forget the critics
"Never rely only on the critics. This movie was pure fun. I was on the edge of my seat the whole movie. It wasn't scary but the movie was exciting. Not a dull moment. I see 100 movies a year and this rates one of my top 10. Its not oscar material but it was really enjoyable. Great entertainment.You'll leave the theatre feeling good. Go see it. You won't regret it!"

Worst movie of the year (0 out of 50)
"Let's just say the writers would lose on the first round of, "Our You Smarter than a Fifth Grader." Their sad attempt at one line humor failed to make up for their plotless, (Natural Treasure Wanna-be) story line. To make it even worse, it seemed as if the cast were reading thier lines off a monitor. No action seens of value, no plot, and not a hot girl one in a story based on the beach. They could have at least thrown in Jessica Alba to give men a reason to go to the theatre. From a mans perspective, this was truly the worst movie of the year. I would've rather been dragged to 27 dresses. At least it probably has a plot???"
enjoyable
"I don't know why these other reviews are so negative, my husband and I enjoyed Fool's Gold very much. It flowed nicely and didn't drag on or out at all. Some of it was pretty predictable but still had some unexpected parts as well. I thought that it was very enjoyable and was a nice treat. Kate and Matthew did it again. Bravo for entertainment!!"

Lame overall
"What an insult to the patrons...that sterotypical views of women as "bimbos,"..idea that most women really want to attend a movie to see Mattew's abs. I am most disappointed in the actors and everyone responsible for the movie which isn't cast well nor accurate in its portrayal of locations. Key West is not hilly people! Don't waste your time..even getting wasted and watching it would not work. One of the worst movies I have seen ever."

I agree with the critics
"I'm sorry but this movie was awful. After seeing "How to Lose I guy in Ten days", which I enjoyed with my gf, even as a guy, I thought these two would make another good movie. However even after an hour into it it was so slow and kept draging on. The captains's daughter is so annoying its not even cute or funny you just wanna slap her. I literally walked out on this movie as did two other couples. I usually never agree with reviews because I usually enjoy a lot of what they feel is stupid or bad. However this time they are on the money, trust me go save you money and see something else. All I know is it wasnt even close to a National treasure as someone said earlier, both of those films I really enjoyed. Can't wait for vantage point now that looks good, even "Deffinitely maybe" looks good lol."

Movie critics are on crack!
"Seems that everytime I read a movie critic's review and they love it...I hate it. And when they hate it...I LOVE it. Because of this, I now go to movies that they give bad ratings to and I haven't gone wrong yet. I go to the movies to be entertained, not get a life lesson. I enjoyed this movie for what it was...ENTERTAINMENT!! Matthew and Kate are great together and who doesn't love a treasure hunt??? This movie was 2 hours of fun. I would pay again to see it. I don't know what these movie critics base their reviews on but they've lost sight of what people go to a movie for. So ignore the critic reviews and go and see this escape from reality with beautiful scenery at every turn. Enjoy it....I sure did!"
I'VE BEEN CHEATED!!!
"Basically, The treasure they refered to in the movie is the artifacts that I personally found. Don't believe it? www.floridarrg.com. I didnt know they could do that type of thing without atleast putting you in the credits and or compensating you in some way or another. Im totally shocked...but the movie was great other than that. On the website is a a picture of the things I found and that were referred to "the items off vero beach" the cannon, the sword, the two silver platters, the sliver bowl...unreal. My companies name is A-1 Diving (a1diving@hotmail.com) and the name is Tom Boyd. Atleast maybe I can get alittle credit. We all worked very hard to find those artifacts...the least those hollywood millionares could do would be to acknowledge us in some form or another. Maybe im overreacting here, but its really hard to not feel cheated...the signifigances were too close to ignore for me. But for the record after the first 1hr15 mins....I had nothing to do with that mess...haha. I give this move two thumbs up!"

FRUSTRATING!
"Please be aware that the run time displayed on Moviefone about this movie is NOT correct. I checked it before I went to see the movie bc I was going to be cutting it close, watching the movie and then getting to pick up my kids on time after school. So, taking the 95 minute run time as posted on moviefone, i figured i had plenty of time....including the trailers. So, The movie gets into the really good part where they find the gold and begin to fight off the bad guys and I have to LEAVE! When I left, I was about 110 minutes into the actual movie, not including trailers. I would assume that there was at least another 10-15 minutes of the show remaining. It was incredibly frustrating to have to leave during the best part of the movie bc the Moviefone info was WRONG! GGRRRR.... My guess is that you are looking at at least 2 hours to watch the movie in it's entirely. Other than that, I thought it was a cute movie. Funny, sexy....great date movie. Hope you have better luck than me. Guess I'll just have to go back and watch it all over again. Worth it I guess. Matthew is definately easy on the eyes!"
