Critic Reviews
The movie isn't entirely successful as a romance or as an adventure, which makes the experience of watching it feel shallow and hollow, sort of like the stars and the plot.
Read the full reviewTennant keeps his extravagantly stupid new comedy breezing along affably on the strength of photogenic locales, obscenely beautiful stars, a laid-back soundtrack, and a wholesale unwillingness to take itself the least bit seriously.
Read the full reviewWill Finn and Tess find the treasure before the bad guys? Will they put aside their differences and rekindle their love? Yes to both questions! I haven?t spoiled anything, by the way. But perhaps I?ve saved you some trouble.
Read the full reviewA listless romantic comedy that, almost out of desperation, turns a little more violent than necessary near the end.
Read the full reviewA soggy, listless affair, this would-be fun-in-the-sun sunken-treasure frivolity starts taking on water from the get-go, thanks to drawn-out exposition and languid pacing.
Read the full reviewThe jewels in the buried treasure, once sighted, look fake. But the bigger problem is how artificial the whole story feels.
Read the full reviewAny more than two writers on a movie usually spells trouble. On the other hand, that two of the three scribes responsible for Fool's Gold have previously specialized in horror makes perfect sense.
Read the full reviewIt's a big, cheesy, familiar bore. With its garland of set pieces featuring Matthew McConaughey in mortal danger strung together by beach-groovy musical hooks, Fool's Gold feels at times like a third-rate Bond movie set to a Jimmy Buffett album.
Read the full reviewA romantic comedy and an adventure story, but in this case that just means it bombs in two distinct ways.
Read the full reviewKate Hudson is as blah and dazed as her costar is cloyingly enthused. If it's possible to have too even a tan, Hudson in Fool's Gold would be the poster child for it.
Read the full reviewIt's early in the year, but I defy any 2008 comedy to be as stupid, slack and sexless as Fool's Gold. And I'm counting Paris Hilton's appalling "The Hottie and the Nottie," which is marginally better.

"Really keeps your attention and keeps you laughing. It makes you wish you were a fish in the water. It is just a fun movie for a Sunday afternoon."
Fools gold is a little adventurous getaway!
"Yes, they could have done much more with the movie, but it was worth seeing on the big screen. Not every movie can live up to everyone's standards, and sometimes Hollywood doesn't want to spend $100 million on every movie it makes, just consider this one a cheaper little "filler" movie for Hollywood, Kate and Mathew until the "bigger better" one comes out! Fools gold is a nice getaway for most of us!!"
An Entertaining
"C'mon now! Why do these critic's get paid for being idiots? Now this movies was real fun and great entertainment and made me laugh, smile and made a so, so, day end up being pretty good! I think if you have nothing better to do, go ahead and watch this movie!"

4.5 stars...Great for a matinee...
"So what if the plot has as many holes as Swiss cheese. It was FUN, just plain good, dumb fun. Romancing the Stone kind of fun, but with a quicker pace. If you listened to the self absorbed professional critics above, they'd be bitching that Joan Wilder would never be taken seriously as an author. If you want to get out of the house for an afternoon of inexpensive (matinee) entertainment ~ this is a good bet. If not, you'll see when it makes onto HBO, etc.Besides which, just the scene with Alexiz Dzienda with the sword is worth the price of admission.Critics, don't take cinemagraphic life so seriously."
BORING
"Matthew McConaughey is such eye candy in this movie, but that's the best part. The movie was long winded and boring. The very end picked up a bit. I think I dosed off a couple of times. Not recommeded. If you really want to see it - wait to rent it and save your money."
so so
"the preview gave me an idea that is will be an exciting, fun movie. I have to say its was not very exciting or very funny. This movie was just ok, not bad, but not great."
What were they thinking
"Matthew should go to work for Chippendales because that is about all I got from this boring movie, I can't believe Kate would even pick this movie it had to be just for the paid trip to the Bahamas the water was gorgeous.........................."
