Critic Reviews
For all Dead Man's Shoes' well-paced, well-observed boondocks melodrama, its premise seems simultaneously slender and overheated.
Read the full reviewThe always fantastic Paddy Considine evokes both sensitivity and explosiveness.
Read the full reviewThe imagery is exotically grungy and jumbled by flashback, but in the end, the picture's more pulp than juice.

classic indie
"film of the year .Simple, original take on revenge movie format with the stellar performance of paddy considine anchoring the movie. Peak district also used to wonderful effect"
Done with understanding and elegance.
"A tightly written story of revenge portraying the underbelly of humanity and murderous solutions. I believed it to be an in-depth understanding of cruelty . I appreciated the way the script was set up, with changes from the present to the past. The writers had a clear vision of the universality of avenge. I experienced catharsis. The ending ties together the story. I will be showing this to my classes when it comes out in DVDs."
Well-paced, but deeply unpleasant and stupid
"An original, complex, and utterly gruesome revenge parable, and never portrays its characters as black and white. Considine handles his performance like a pro, and only adds to the pure skill behind it. And for all Dead Man's Shoes' well-paced, well-observed boondocks melodrama, its premise seems simultaneously slender and overheated. But i thought that the film is filled with deeply unpleasant and stupid people whose vapid speech is largely incomprehensible due to thick regional accents."
