Films like this are more useful than gung-ho capers like "Behind Enemy Lines." They help audiences understand and sympathize with the actual experiences of combat troops, instead of trivializing them into entertainments.
Read the full reviewHis is a triumph of pure filmmaking, a pitiless, unrelenting, no-excuses war movie so thoroughly convincing it's frequently difficult to believe it is a staged re-creation.

Read the full reviewA personal best for producer Jerry Bruckheimer, a triumph for Scott and a war film of prodigious power. You will be shaken.

Read the full reviewYou're drawn in, like it or not. You can't get away from the immediacy. Or the feeling that you're getting sucked in, too.
Read the full reviewEven an audience moved to tender patriotism might wonder how Scott, a proven master of ''Gladiator''-size visual showmanship, could have bombed away the personality of every man fighting until he's left with nothing more than pure combat.
Read the full reviewSitting through the accomplished but meaningless Black Hawk Down is like being trapped in an action film version of "Groundhog Day," condemned to sit through the same carnage over and over.

War, an awesome entertainment
"This movie puts you on the frontlines, while you eat popcorn with a soda. This is a very good film, and it shows war, like people don't imagine it, it will give you a new light to things, but this movie also shows how other cultures act. I give this film two thumbs way up!"
black hawk down kicks it
"i think black hawk down is probly the best modern war movie out there. ive watched just about every war movie and experianced the war in iraq for myself. and i just have to say that this movie is asreal as it gets. not just the shooting and action but the teamwork and reality of war. itshows the rangers creed of, "dont leave any man behind". this movie really demenstraits what happened that day. i give it 4 stars."
Hottest Song I Ever Heard
"To whom it may concern:In my opinion, whatever that might mean, The Cult put out the Hottest Song I Ever Heard, when it came out on the SoundTrack, from the movie Gone in 60 Seconds with Nick Cage. The credits came up at the end of the movie, while I was watching it on video and I kept rewinding it until I could memorize every word. I have had a bit of trouble finding it anywhere until today when it actually came up when I searched this site. Awesome, is the only thing left to say. Never has there been anything like it, and it belongs in the hottest movie ever, nine and a half weeks with kim bassinger and Mickey Rourke.thanks for asking....m4meow22evansshellie@aol.comokr meow4meow22@hotmail.com Painted on my Heart, by The Cult"

Black Hawk Down
"I have never seen a war movie like this before. It's not like other war movies that I watched where it stays with you for a week but then you forget about it. This one is truly unforgetttable, not for its non-stop action, but because of the compassion this movie makes you have for the soldiers who really fought for their lives and the lives of their comrades. Good job to the talented ensemble cast and the director."
BHD
"You really feel like you are there and become to care about the characters. The thoughts that were prestented by Harnetts character was what made it different from other was movies and were just what made it so remberable. Also congrads to Orlando for taking such a small part and yet doing a great job with it."
