Movie-Star Moms: What They're Up to Post-Baby
Jennifer Garner
Mom to: Almost 2-year-old Violet, with hubby Ben Affleck
The Mommy Track? While filming the political thriller 'The Kingdom,' Garner was hospitalized for heatstroke due to breastfeeding: "All my electrolytes were going to the baby -- I wasn't keeping any of the potassium in my body." On the lighter side, she plays a woman who desperately wants a baby in the critically acclaimed dramedy 'Juno,' and will appear for a stint on Broadway opposite Kevin Kline in 'Cyrano de Bergerac.'

Naomi Watts
Mom to: 2-month-old Alexander, with fiance Liev Schreiber
The Mommy Track? Barely postpartum, the always busy Aussie is getting raves for 'Eastern Promises,' and has at least four more films on the way, including the '08 thriller 'The International.' Not surprising, since she says "I love my work, and if it were just a job to me, I'd be happy to leave it behind. But it's not."
Maggie Gyllenhaal
Mom to: 1-year-old Ramona, with fiancé Peter Sarsgaard
The Mommy Track? Though she made her name in indies ('Secretary,' 'Sherrybaby'), since giving birth, Gyllenhaal has scored her biggest role yet: She's love interest Rachel Dawes in 'The Dark Knight' (played by Katie Holmes in 'Batman Begins'). You go, mommy.
Kate Winslet
Mom to: 7-year-old Maya, with ex Jim Threapleton, and almost-4-year-old Joe, with current hubby Sam Mendes
The Mommy Track? In 2006, Winslet announced she was taking a year off acting to focus on family -- "My life is very good and I need to switch off from movies and just be a parent for a while." Now her break is over, and she'll reunite with Leonardo DiCaprio in the Mendes-directed 'Revolutionary Road.'
Salma Hayek
Mom to: Days-old Valentina, with her fiancé, businessman Francois-Henri Pinault
The Mommy Track? The 'Desperado' star will provide a voice in the upcoming animated 'South of the Border' and continue her winning run as a producer of the hit series 'Ugly Betty.' Before baby Valentina came along, Hayek professed she wouldn't stop working, "I could just say I will give it all up and be a housewife in Paris. But I said, 'No.' [My fiance] loves it that I work this hard. He has a lot of respect for what I do."
Keri Russell
Mom to: 3-month-old River, with hubby, contractor Shane Deary
The Mommy Track? In Russell's last three big-screen roles before she was pregnant, she played ... women who were pregnant ('Waitress,' 'The Girl in the Park' and 'August Rush'). That's life imitating art. She's reportedly reprising her guest role on TV's 'Scrubs' this season, but otherwise has no future projects announced -- so it appears she's taking a movie break for baby.
Bridget Moynahan
Mom to: 1-month-old John Edward Thomas, with ex, Tom Brady
The Mommy Track? Now famously a single parent (she and Brady split before she'd publicly announced her pregnancy), the 'I, Robot' star is putting her career on hold, despite a development deal with ABC.
Cate Blanchett
Mom to: 6-year-old Dashiell and 3-year-old Roman, with hubby Andrew Upton
The Mommy Track? This fall, she reprises an Oscar-nominated role in 'Elizabeth: The Golden Age' and plays a Dylanesque musician in the much-buzzed-about 'I'm Not There.' And next summer, she'll keep up with the Joneses in 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.' Characteristically, she says: "I am not frightened of change. I was never frightened of parenthood."
Julia Roberts
Mom to: Twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, almost 3, and baby Henry, 4 months, with cameraman husband Danny Moder
The Mommy Track? Roberts, once Hollywood's highest-paid leading lady, has certainly slowed down -- she's done only three films (and two of them were animated) since she's been a mom: "I felt like I had worked for 18 years at my career, and this is my reward, that I get to stay home with my children." Is it any wonder then that 'Charlie Wilson's War,' her upcoming drama co-starring Tom Hanks, is already getting awards talk, sight unseen?
Angelina Jolie
Mom to: Shiloh, 1, with live-in beau Brad Pitt (like you didn't know), and adopted children Maddox, 6, Zahara, 2, and Pax, almost 4
The Mommy Track? She's got 'Beowulf' this fall, 'Kung Fu Panda' in '08 and at least three new films in the pipe; i.e., her much-publicized announcement of "taking a year off" hasn't come to pass. But she and Brad take turns working so one of them can be with the kids. And no doubt there will be more. Both have been quoted as saying they definitely want to expand their brood.
Courteney Cox Arquette
Mom to: Coco, 3, with hubby and frequent co-star, David Arquette
The Mommy Track? Cox took some time off after her daughter was born, but now she's starring in and producing the FX show 'Dirt.' She says, "I waited a while after Coco was born to work. Now Coco is ... going to school, and this just kind of enriches my life. She's such a cool kid. She doesn't inhibit me from doing anything." Lucky mom.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Mom to: Apple, 3, and Moses, 17 months, with spouse (and Coldplay frontman) Chris Martin
The Mommy Track? After a few years off the fast track ("I just sort of got to the point where I had worked too much, so I stopped completely to be home"), Paltrow is back in a big way: Besides co-starring in her brother's directorial debut, 'The Good Night,' she plays Pepper Potts, the female lead, in next year's greatly anticipated 'Iron Man.'
Michelle Williams
Mom to: Matilda, almost 2, with newly ex-boyfriend Heath Ledger
The Mommy Track? She's said that with 'Brokeback Mountain' (where she met Ledger), "We started promoting the movie about three weeks after Matilda was born, which was too soon. I'm ... learning how to be a working mom." Emphasis on "working": She'll play Charlotte in 'Brontë,' voice a character in the kid-centric 'Where the Wild Things Are,' play an Edie Sedgwick-like character in 'I'm Not There' and appear in at least three other upcoming projects.
Rachel Weisz
Mom to: Henry, 16 months, with fiancé, director Darren Aronofsky
The Mommy Track? Weisz appears in the upcoming 'Fred Claus' and the high-profile 'The Lovely Bones,' as well as at least four more movies. And since she's said, "I'm a working mom now, so I have joined the club of all the millions of other women on the planet who are working moms and I take my hat off to them," she can salute herself as well.
Kate Hudson
Mom to: Son Ryder, 3, with rocker ex Chris Robinson
The Mommy Track? Hudson's been busy since she and hubby split ... and not just on the dating front (she and Owen Wilson were together briefly; she's currently seeing Dax Shepard). She recently filmed 'Fool's Gold' with Matthew McConaughey, is currently at work on 'Bachelor No. 2' with Dane Cook and has three more movies announced. She says, "I just have to keep reiterating to myself that it's important for me to make sure that my son knows that we all have lives and everybody's lives are important and everybody's individuality is important."
Katie Holmes
Mom to: Suri, 17 months, with her enthusiastic husband Tom Cruise
The Mommy Track? Katie's working again, sorta -- her first post-baby movie, 'Mad Money,' is shot, but there are no other films on the horizon. She says her work is very important to her, but "when I go to work, it will be the right thing, worth my time and worth my time away from my family." Guess she's still looking for the right thing.
Denise Richards
Mom to: Lola, 2 months and Sam, 3, with ex Charlie Sheen
The Mommy Track? Richards has been a tabloid regular since her ugly divorce -- first she dated her "best friend" Heather Locklear's ex, Richie Sambora, then there were her lurid allegations against Sheen filed in court, then there was an incident of throwing a paparrazzo's laptop off a balcony, then more lurid allegations against Sheen. Oh, she made a few movies too: 'Blonde and Blonder,' with Pamela Anderson, and two more. Where does she find the time?
Angela Bassett
Mom to: 20-month-old twins Bronwyn and Slater, born to a surrogate mother, with husband Courtney B. Vance
The Mommy Track? Bassett and Vance struggled with infertility for several years before going the surrogate route: According to their book, 'Friend...A Love Story,' she suffered two miscarriages and seven unsuccessful rounds of in-vitro treatment. But now, at 49 and a mom to two under-twos, Bassett has the stamina of some women half her age. She's got four films in the works in '07-08.
Liv Tyler
Mom to: Milo, almost 3, with husband Royston Langdon, a Brit rocker
The Mommy Track? After keeping a low post-'Lord of the Rings' profile, Liv has a spate of new films, including 'The Incredible Hulk.' But it wasn't so long ago that she wasn't sold on her career: "At the time I got pregnant, I wasn't 100 percent sure that acting was what I wanted to do .... The acting part was beautiful, but there are all the other parts that are hard for actors, like press junkets and endless traveling around and talking about yourself .... Milo came at the most perfect time for me, in that I just really needed to figure all that stuff out."
Mira Sorvino
Mom to: Mattea, almost 3, and Johnny, 16 months, with young hubby Chris Backus
The Mommy Track? She's in the upcoming drama 'Reservation Road,' and has three films lined up for '08, though she says she hates being a working mom. She's said, "I feel so guilty because my kids cry so hard when I go to work. I know there are millions and millions of working women out in the world who face this same dilemma, but it just kind of kills me, and I don't know what to do about it."
Brooke Shields
Mom to: Rowan, 4, and Grier, 17 months, with TV-writer husband, Chris Henchy
The Mommy Track? After her much-publicized bout with postpartum depression following the birth of Rowan, Grier's infancy was smooth sailing for the former model-child star. She's in a new horror movie, 'Midnight Meat Train' (really) and will star in a TV series based on a Candace Bushnell novel, 'Lipstick Jungle,' starting in '08.
Maya Rudolph
Mom to: Pearl, almost 2, with spouse, acclaimed director P.T. Anderson
The Mommy Track? She was Rapunzel in 'Shrek the Third,' and worked her butt off every week as a cast member of 'Saturday Night Live.' But we're not sure if she'll be back -- first she said she was leaving, then she changed her mind and now according to some sources she changed it again; since she has no movie projects on the horizon, we're not sure when or where we'll be seeing Maya in the future.
