'Harry Potter': See How Harry, Hermione and Ron Have Grown
Growing Pains
It seems like only yesterday that Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley were cute little tykes at Hogwarts who barely knew which end of the wand was up. But after four years of teachers, bullies and You-Know-Who, they've blossomed into mature young adults ... more or less. Take a look back at how Harry, Hermione and Ron have changed through the years.

Harry: First Year
Future great wizard or no, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) starts off as a veritable klutz in 'Sorcerer's Stone.' When he goes shopping for his first wand, it's a wonder he doesn't turn himself AND the shopkeeper into toads. Hey, careful where you point that thing, buster. You break it, you bought it.

Harry: Second Year
By 'Chamber of Secrets,' Harry's learned enough to disable Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton) in a duel. Then he starts speaking in tongues. If this wizard gig doesn't work out, looks like Harry can always get work as a Pentacostal preacher.

Harry: Third Year
In 'The Prisoner of Azkaban,' Harry impresses Professor Lupin (David Thewlis) with his mad wizarding skillz by learning how to defend himself against a ghastly Dementor -- then actually defeating a Dementor that's trying to suck out his soul. Now if only he could use a spell like that on Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia ...

Harry: Fourth Year
Competing in the Triwizard Tournament in 'Goblet of Fire,' not only does Harry hold his own against older, more experienced students, but he also wins it all (whoops, spoiler alert) by outflying a Hungarian Horntail dragon, rescuing Ron from a lake and navigating a treacherous maze. His prize? A battle with Voldemort that nearly takes Harry's life. Kind of puts a damper on that whole "eternal glory" thing.

Hermione: First Year
When Harry and Ron first meet Hermione (Emma Watson) on the train to Hogwarts, she's pretty stuck on herself and is basically, uh, kind of a rhymes-with-witch. Which is funny, because she actually is a ... oh, never mind.

Hermione: Second Year
In 'Chamber of Secrets,' Hermione takes her attitude out on the bad guys, sticking up for Ron against Malfoy at Quidditch practice -- that is, until a sneering Malfoy calls her a Mudblood. Cheer up, Hermione. At least your hair doesn't look like someone cooked bacon in it.

Hermione: Third Year
Who needs magic when you've got your fists? In 'Azkaban,' Hermione finally silences Malfoy by going all Rocky Balboa on his sorry behind, punching him in the face in front of his loser friends. Yeah, you'd better run, Malfoy. One man's crazy is another man's awesome.

Hermione: Fourth Year
There's no trace of the prissy know-it-all or fightin' tomboy in 'Goblet of Fire.' Let's face it, Hermione's hot, and she's the envy of every girl at Hogwarts when Quidditch stud Viktor Krum asks her to the Yule Ball. Ron and Harry, meanwhile, barely manage to get dates at all. Guess girls really do mature faster than boys.

Ron: First Year
If Harry is the talent and Hermione is the brains, then Ron (Rupert Grint) is the kid who can't help freaking out -- when his wand doesn't work, when he sees a giant troll or when he's being strangled to death by Devil's Snare. Look closely in the credits and you'll see his name listed as "Poor Little Ron." Really!

Ron: Second Year
When Ron swipes his dad's flying car in 'Chamber of Secrets,' he may have gained some street cred -- grand theft auto, pretty impressive -- but the Ron we know and love still can't help squealing like a little girl when he wrecks the car trying to land it. Yeah, yeah, tell it to the judge, son.

Ron: Third Year
In 'Azkaban,' we learn that Ron gets the willies even in his sleep, when he's being ordered to tap-dance by monstrous spiders. To his credit, we'd wake up screaming from that dream, too. Tap dancing is downright terrifying.

Ron: Fourth Year
Ron's still petrified in 'Goblet of Fire,' this time of asking a girl to the Yule Ball. At least he works up the nerve to fight with someone ... Too bad it's his best pal Harry. Oh, Ron. You know you'll always be more than "Harry Potter's stupid friend" to us.
