Celebs Are Geeky, Too: Stars Reveal Their Inner Nerd
Everybody's got some geek in them -- even the rich, famous and beautiful like Gwyneth Paltrow and Clive Owen. Dan Fogler, too. In the spirit of last week's Comic-Con Convention in San Diego, we caught up with nine stars in town to promote upcoming movies to ask, "What's the geekiest thing about you?"
More About Comic-Con
Josh Hartnett
Starring In: '30 Days of Night'
The Geekiest Thing: "I was a huge 'Star Wars' fan when I was a kid. But when you're a kid you're supposed to be. I'm a geek in a lot of ways. I watch a lot of films, I spend a lot of time alone, reading books, playing my guitar. Going online and looking up funny YouTube videos."
Gwyneth Paltrow
Starring In: 'Iron Man'
The Geekiest Thing: "I get very geeky about food. I read cook books and I read cooking magazines. I try out new pots and am always buying and trying the new gadgets. That's my geekiest side. I get very scientific about it all."
Ed Burns
Starring In: 'One Missed Call'
The Geekiest Thing: "I was addicted to the videogame 'Metal of Honor' for about six months, just before my daughter was born. I had to basically throw it out when she was born because I had days where I would sit down at 10:00 at night, look up and the sun was coming up. That was unhealthy."
Robert Downey Jr.
Starring In: 'Iron Man'
The Geekiest Thing: "I'm a big military buff and I'm strung out on The History Channel and The Military Channel. If 'Dogfights' comes on The Military Channel, like 'This P-51 went up against 20 Messerschmitt 109s,' I'm like, 'Stop what you're doing!'"
Dan Fogler
Starring In: 'Balls of Fury'
The Geekiest Thing: "I got allergies, man. Bad allergies. But aside from that, I've got tons of comic books at home that I haven't been able to release 'cause I love them so much. I sold a couple of them and then was like, My babies! I've still got a bag of G.I. Joes somewhere, and Transformers."
Clive Owen
Starring In: 'Shoot 'Em Up'
The Geekiest Thing: "I have no idea. Probably my passion for my football club Liverpool. I've been into them since I was a little kid. But the nearest I got to putting on a crazy comic-book costume was putting on my Liverpool cap when they played on the telly."
Ali Larter
Starring In: 'Resident Evil: Extinction'
The Geekiest Thing: "I am so clumsy. (Pointing to bruises around her body). Yuk. Yuk. Yuk. I am bruised and cut up and scabbed. I am just a bull in a china shop all the time. That's me, I'm not one of these graceful girls who floats through life. I am a rough-and-tumble girl."
Thomas Jane
Starring In: 'The Mist'
The Geekiest Thing: "I'm pretty much a geek through and through. I'm a comic book collector. I love Pre-Code Horror and original art and comics. I'll be in the Silver & Golden Age section [of Comic-Con] pouring through the Pre-Code Horror books and looking for that lost book on my checklist."
Tobin Bell
Starring In: 'Saw IV'
The Geekiest Thing: "I love baseball, I don't know how geeky that is. But I love baseball, I love statistics. I love the game. I'm going to New York to catch some Yankees games tomorrow. But I've never thought about the geeky thing."
