Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
No Golden Globes show? Believe it. Faced with the prospect of picket lines and stars staying home to support the writers' strike, the HFPA and NBC have cancelled the traditional ceremony in favor of a press conference. But who will Isaac Mizrahi grope now? We trolled the Internet to see what bloggers think of a world without our favorite boozy bacchanal.

Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
"We've learned to live without writers, but can we live without ... awards shows? Do we want to live in that cold, red carpet-less place?" - Pareene, <a href="http://gawker.com/341767/golden-globes-canceled"target="_blank">Gawker

Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
"I can just see tumbleweeds rolling along the carpet and Ryan Seacrest standing there smoking a cig waiting for something to do. He would probably bitch to the camera man about how it took him an hour to get his hair just right. It's a sad day." - CNH, <a href="http://www.celebitchy.com/8449/golden_globes_canceled/"target="_blank">Celebitchy

Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
"Well, that sucks. One of my favorite sleeping aids, The Golden Globes, has officially been cancelled from TV." -Michael, <a href="http://dlisted.com/node/21181"target="_blank">dlisted

Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
"OK, now we can consider the Golden Globes ceremony officially killed, as organizers have abandoned the bizarre news-special-and-party-report scheme floated earlier today in favor of a one-hour press conference (televised by NBC) that will replace the boozy dinner-and-statuettes orgy we've all come to know and tolerate as we impatiently await the Oscars." - Mark, <a href="http://defamer.com/hollywood/deaths/golden-globes-ceremony-officially-canceled-for-real-this-time-341917.php"target="_blank">Defamer

Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
"You might think it's sad, but if I may editorialize: Pay the damn writers what they're worth and this sort of thing doesn't have to happen." - <a href="http://www.bigpictureradio.com/2008/01/golden-globes-telecast-canceled.html"target="_blank">The Big Picture With Colin Boyd

Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
"Again, I ask, What has this accomplished? It only seems to be that spiteful writers are just out for the kill, without any idea of what they are gaining." - Brad Brevet, <a href="http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/article/2008_golden_globes_have_been_cancelled"target="_blank">Rope of Silicon

Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
"None of the actors or actresses will be there to accept these awards, nor are they expected to show up on this Dateline special (although that might change). So who will Matt Lauer talk to for two hours? Hand-puppets, maybe? That would be cool." - Erik Davis, <a href="http://www.cinematical.com/2008/01/09/from-the-editors-desk-globes-and-gladiators/"target="_blank">Cinematical

Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
"A Golden Globes without any A-listers would have been a very dull event indeed. But the wider question is what this means for the Oscars. The Golden Globes is like a flea fart in a hurricane compared to the importance of the Oscars, but could we see the biggest event in the movie calendar not going ahead?" - Olly Richards, <a href="http://www.empireonline.com/news/feed.asp?NID=21740"target="_blank">Empire Online

Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
"Maybe naming Rumer Willis 'Miss Golden Globe '08' wasn't such a good choice of totem, guys." - Russ Fischer, <a href="http://www.chud.com/index.php?type=news&id=13202"target="_blank">CHUD

Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
"And thus, it has been done. Last night, the Hollywood Foreign Press announced that the typical five-hour spectacle of back slapping, stilted conversation, musical numbers, and applause-filled obituaries will be replaced by an hour-long news conference. No celebrities. No after-parties. No Bruce Vilanch-fueled comedy." - <a href="http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2008/01/golden_globes_ceremony_parties.php"target="_blank">I Watch Stuff

Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
"This is quite possibly the most devastating blow delivered by the writers strike, ranking right up there with the stoppage of <a href="http://television.aol.com/show/the-office/152542/main"target="_blank">'The Office.'" - Neil Miller, <a href="http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/news/golden-globes-cancelled-nbc-to-air-press-conference.php"target="_blank">Film School Rejects

Golden Globes Buzz: The Blogosphere Says ...
"I feel it is important to give out the awards. Despite the strike and the tomfoolery attached, these actors and writers did earn these awards. Perhaps another set of awards for asshattery should be given out, but I am not naming any nominees." -Rodney, <a href="http://www.themovieblog.com/2008/01/golden-globes-cancelled"target="_blank">The Movie Blog

I can sympathize with the writers--surely there is more than enough money in Hollywood to meet their demands.. however--the people who are nominated for the first time miss out on the GG--and the public misses out too--and those of us who are loyal followers of our favorite shows -are pretty fed up with re-runs- seems like a lose-lose situation

I think it is good that there is no GG. There are bigger things going on in the world than the Best Picture award. Besides, the award should mean the same no matter how it is presented.

Someone needs to fire all the writers, give their jobs to others, and get the show on the road. No GG, and tv sucks with all the reruns!
