I just saw The Dark Knight and the only thing that fails to make this the best movie of the year is the casting of Maggie Gyllenhaal as Rachel. As it is, Ledger and Bale make this an awesome movie and, along with Hancock and Iron Man, one of the best I have seen this year. The buzz about a posthumus Oscar for Ledger is well deserved. Had I not know that was who played the Joker, I would not have been able to identify the actor behind the face paint. It is a sad commentary on the free reign to ruin people's lives that we give to "the media" who scurry around like cockroaches, digging into the personal lives of anyone they see fit to stalk, harass, and defile, that we have lost such a talent at such a young age to such as they who wrap themselves in the First Amendment.
THe movie was great. Ledger made Nicholson's Joker look like a clown. I cannot wait to see it again.
Heath Ledger was one of the most versitile and powerful actors of our time. We had just begun to witness and he had just begun to explore the heighths and depths of his acting abilities. His work on this movie was no more than a "morning stretch" in what should have been the beginning of a long career. We will never witness or enjoy the "mid-day" or the "twilight" of his abilities. What a shame! I have to ask, how much of the "anxiety" he was suffering from that created the need in him for the medications that would ultimately end his life was due to the lack of privacy afforded to "our movie stars" by the "paparazi," the tabloids and those who purchase them? What debt do each of them owe to his baby girl? What debt do they owe to those of us who appreciated his abilities and his work with the understanding that even our most public celebrities still do deserve a private life?

Mishavictor~~~ The reason you might be confused about Christian Bale being found in his apartment is because HE wasn't. It was Heath Ledger. Heath NOT Christian was the one casted to play the Joker. God rest his soul.
I for myself really never red any of the classic comic books when I was a kid, though I did see some of the cartoons. And even today I remember the when I went over to a friends house and watched one of the old batman cartoons. out of all characters, the Joker was my 1# and 100% favorite character / villain of all. I guess it was the style or the devilish laugh that intrigued me so, but ever since Hollywood announced that the second Batman Begins movie was coming to theaters and that "Christian Bale" was staring as The Joker I just couldn't wait. Though today people really don't see me as a very dark person, but even I have my true sense of darkness here and there. And to me I think that this movie will stand high in the charts, and will dominate and blowing all competitors away. leaving them in the dust. Though I am still puzzled why "Christian Bale" was found dead at his own apartment?
I am most excited for "The Dark Knight". Why? Obvious reasons. I've seen Iron Man, Prince Caspian, and Indy 4 already and all were great, but I think "TDK" will blow them all away.
