We spent time in Bali when I was supposed to do a film there. My son would say, "Do we have to see something old today?" So we would alternate sights with hanging out at the pool.

Point Reyes, Ca. It's a wildlife refuge with 80 miles of hiking trail. I [don't like] to sit around a pool and get waited on. It makes me feel itchy. There's nothing wizzy-wowwy .... There are no chain stores; farmers and artists live there. I can take my books and red wine, spend my days hiking and bird watching, and spend my nights in a tent by the fire.

It's where they shot 'A River Runs Through It.' I have a great appreciation of beauty ... and, my God, if you've ever been there, you won't forget it.

One of the coolest places I've been to is Tortola, which is a British Virgin Island south of Puerto Rico. It was about the most serene place I've ever seen in my life. My wife and I had such a good time. I want to go back.
